GALLERY: Brakence

BOSTON, MA | DECEMBER, 18TH, 2022 | BY TONY LAM

We got the opportunity to see Brakence live in-concert at Boston’s Royale in mid-December. A solo project created by Randy Findell, the Hypochondriac tour highlighted Brakence’s recent hyperpop album.

The show started off with the lights cut and the crowd waiting in anticipation. As the audience cheered for Brakence’s arrival on stage, the speakers blared a monologue; it seemed like something out of the Purge. And, as the crowd grew louder and the speech transitioned into bugging!’s intro, the lights blared and lit up the venue. We were anxious to see what would happen next.

Blinding lights. Crowdsurfing. A raging mosh pit. A setlist complete with hits off Hypochondriac and Punk2. Brakence had it all. The Royale seemed to shake from the crowd’s moshing and the booms of speakers. With each flashing light and thundering rumble, the crowd continued to dance the night away.

Brakence is one of those artists that sound even better live. Caffeine was phenomenal. 5g was one to remember. And venus fly trap seemed to steal the entire show. If you’re looking for a show to kickstart your 2023 concert bucket list, Brakence is one you need to add.
