Joining TV Girl at their Brooklyn show was Computerwife, a solo project led by Addie Warncke. Specializing in alternative and bedroom pop, they complimented TV Girl’s set perfectly, rocking the Brooklyn Steel on August 19th, 2022. Honestly, it was disappointing that Computerwife was only able to play 1 show on TV Girl’s short 7-show summer tour, they’re the definition of underrated.

Donning a baseball cap fitted loosely to her head, a tank top, and a basic pair of jeans, Addie Warncke walked on stage and waved to her audience at the beginning of her scheduled set. Drummer John Supnik soon joined her, lacing his converse with his foot propped up on one of his drums. The two played a few short songs together before guitarist “DinoBoy” joined them.  Dinoboy (or Dalton) wore a Donald Duck shirt, gaining compliments from the crowd.

Computerwife is one of those bands that, when you listen, you feel totally immersed in their music. Hearing it live? That’s an entirely different story. Their set was intoxicating: slow lyrics paired with heavy bass and drums that seemed to shake the venue. The crowd listened attentively, most of the concertgoers having never heard of Computerwife before. It was settled though, they were all becoming quick fans after the band’s performance.

Computerwife isn’t the most well-known band from the New York area (with 45,000+ monthly listeners on Spotify and 4,000+ followers on Instagram), but they are deserving of the term “underrated.” Songs like “Leave Me Be” and “Ignore Facts” have heavy instrumentals and muffled-sounding lyrics that complete one another, a sound unique to the alternative genre. And if you think these songs sound good played from your phone or car radio, they sound even better live.

Sit back, relax, and vibe to Computerwife’s music as they are worth the listen.
