If there was only one thing we could say about Surfaces, it’d be this: “their concert is worth it.” “Surfaces'' is one of those bands that sounds even better live: their interactions with the crowd have everyone going crazy, their vocals are crisp and clear, and the vibes are all there. It’’s the epitome of the ultimate concert experience. The duo consists of Forrest Frank (vocals) and Colin Padalecki (acoustic guitar, keys). And, with 5 studio albums, Surfaces has an entire discography that’s definitely worth the listen.

Surfaces opened for LANY’s “Summer Forever” tour. The tour began in early August and the 33-show tour is still ongoing with a planned end on September 24th. The duo performed at Leader Bank Pavillion in Boston on August 21st and their set floored the crowd.

Surfaces is a band for all ages; parents were grooving in the crowd while their kids stood nearby hands clutched to the edge of the barricade (there was even a toddler at the show with his mom!). Some in the crowd had never heard of Surfaces before, but soon after the performance came to a close, they queued at the merch table in hopes of snagging a T-shirt or two.

Beginning the set with “Heaven Falls,” the crowd went crazy the minute the lights went on. The crowd sang along to Forrest throughout the entire set (one fan even handed Forrest her sunglasses, which he donned with pride for “So Far Away”). And when “24/7/365” started blasting from the speakers… Well, let’s just say the show got even better. With the show closing with “Sunday Best,” saxophone and guitar solos electrified the crowd.

Surfaces is a show worth checking out. We hope to see them on their own headliner soon (because while their opening performance for LANY was amazing, we wish the show was longer).

Keep up with Surfaces:
