OAKLAND, CA | FEBRUARY 28TH, 2023 | BY ITALIE PENALOZA

After canceling their first-scheduled appearance in the Bay Area last year, Baltimore’s own Turnstile finally made their way back for their much-anticipated Love Connection Tour. Originally scheduled for last October, the band made their first stop in the Bay Area at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA before heading to San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre the following night. Welcomed by a sold-out audience and joined by fellow Baltimore-native JPEGMAFIA and Bay Area hardcore ensemble SPY, Turnstile took the stage to a crowd full of energy ready to feel the love connection with the band. Touring in support of their latest album, GLOW ON, the band opened up with fan-favorite track “Holiday,” setting the scene for the high-powered performance they were about to give. Playing a total of 15 songs and a drum solo by group percussionist Daniel Fang, the band gave Oakland fans the show they had been patiently waiting for.  They even included older hits from previous albums in the setlist, like “Drop” and “Moon.” It was a truly connected experience, with crowdsurfers and moshers alike expressing the bond they have with Tunrstile’s music. Before ending the night in Oakland, frontman Brendan Yates asked the crowd if they’d see anybody at their show tomorrow in San Francisco, and that if not, they’d see them again soon.
