Waterparks brought their “Sneaking Out of Heaven” tour to Charlotte, NC! The band is a trio out of Houston with Awsten Knight, vocals and guitar, Otto Wood, drums, and Geoff Wigington, guitar. Saying that this band doesn’t stand still is an understatement. They were so full of energy jumping around, hovering over the crowd, and dancing together!
Awsten had an amazing banter with the crowd; he had an ongoing joke about the southern accent of the audience. After his performance of their song “Brainwash”, he had a good laugh when the audience sang the chorus of the song back to him in their best southern accent.
They like to make sure that none of their tours are exactly the same so for this tour Awsten took it upon himself to learn the piano! During the middle of the show he came out to the B Stage, in the middle of the audience, and played piano for “High Definition”, “Snow Globe”, and “Crying Over It All”! They definitely made sure that everyone in their audience was having the best time from moshing to crowd surfing!
The stage set up was very well thought out. They came out onto the stage from two doors that opened emitting red light into the darkness, which made for a really interesting creepy vibe! Awsten is known for his face paint, and on this tour he had the areas around his eyes painted bright green, which several of the audience members imitated in their own makeup! This was truly such an exciting experience, by an incredibly talented band I hope to have the chance to see again!
