When I think about it, I don’t even know how to put into words the eccentric, yet cohesive performance Yaeji gave audiences at her sold-out Riviera Theatre show. Yaeji was approaching the last few dates of her North American tour when she reached Chicago, captivating audiences with bold, colorful visuals and backdrops that illuminated her silhouette, her enchanting dancers and a vision that couldn’t be imitated. She opened with the charming “Submerge FM” as a pink sunrise risen on the video screen backdrop, seamlessly transitioning into “For Granted” that showcased her soft, mesmeric vocals. Yaeji pulled out all the stops, performing crowd favorites “WAKING UP DOWN,“”drink I’m sipping on,” and her hit single “raingurl.”
