The four piece experimental alternative project, garbagebarbie, consists of Los Angeles based musicians: Fletcher Milloy, drummer Daniel Karasev, guitarist Braedon Huff & bassist Anson Knopp.

Exploring the alternative and DIY garage pop genres, they have worked together to release their five track debut self-titled EP, garbagebarbie, available to stream February 16th.

The EP’s opening song “lockjaw” leans towards a more hardcore punk sound similar to that of artists like The Garden. The track’s “captivating ferocity” as the group describes it, makes for an exciting listening experience that'll make you want to get up and mosh.

“Niceman” also leans towards a punk rock sound with intense instrumentals and vocals.  The third track “flooragain” then shifts towards a slowed down lo fi sound. Both the fourth and fifth tracks gravitate towards more of an indie/ alternative rock sound including catchy instrumentals and echoey vocals that guarantee both tracks to get stuck in your head after the first listen.

Title track “garbagebarbie” embodies a nostalgic sound as it shifts towards the DIY garage pop the band experiments with. The pick up from the verses to the bridge and chorus are backed up by catchy guitar riffs and an addicting bass line making the song impossible to listen to only once. Finally, the closing track “pieceofgarbage” captures a classic indie rock sound with the lively vocals and upbeat drum and trumpet instrumentals.

The EP overall goes to show garbagebarbie’s flexibility across the alternative genre and ability to successfully write and perform addicting songs regardless of their subgenre. Throughout the EP’s five tracks, garbagebarbie is sure to have something for everyone to enjoy and it most definitely worth a listen!
