Iconic indie rock band Cage The Elephant brought their Neon Pill tour to Chicago this past week in celebration of their 6th album release. With a five year gap in between releases, Chicagoans sold out the Credit Union 1 Arena eager to hear songs from Neon Pill live for the first time along with classics such as Spiderhead, Broken Boy, Come a Little Closer, and of course, Cigarette Daydreams. Despite lead singer Matt Shultz’s broken foot, he and his fellow band members put on an electrifying performance.

Fellow indie rock band Young The Giant joined the Neon Pill tour as an opening act, a dream duo for indie lovers. The band mentioned that after touring last summer, they had not planned to tour again this year but couldn't refuse the invite from their good friends. Wanting to mix things up for fans and themselves, Young the Giant composed their set list of deep cuts from their first few albums and personal favorites. Lead singer Sameer Gadhia expressed the band’s desire to make themselves uncomfortable on stage and take a leap out of their comfort zone. This choice made for an exciting set full of unexpected favorites and an overall unforgettable night.
