THE NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AMPITHEATRE | NASHVILLE, TN | AUGUST 9TH, 2024 | BY JILLIAN JOHNSON

One thing you can always bet on is that rock shows are constantly going to produce a very unique crowd. Rock is one of the most universally, respected, appreciated and listened to genres of music. Friday night at Nashville’s legendary Municipal Auditorium, grunge band Candlebox, proved exactly that. While the band Candlebox might have been formed in the early 90s in Seattle, a large chunk of the crowd wasn’t even alive during the 90’s. Literally every age filled the seats of the auditorium. While they have been doing this for over thirty years, they don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Lead singer Kevin Martin commanded the stage with the assistance of a four piece band behind him. The crowd was pushing up against the barricade just to get closer to the band the entire time, electric with energy. Together as one cohesive unit they absolutely destroyed their performance leaving the packed crowd energized and ready for the next performances to come. While the band played mostly their classics, they also dabbled in a little bit of their new stuff, something for every fan in the crowd.

Their last album came out on July 12 of this year, 2024, and has already received amazing reviews from rock fans everywhere. At this particular show, not only was Candlebox opening for another 90’s band, Bush, but they were also accompanied by both Tim Montana and Alice In Chains founder, Jerry Cantrell. It was an absolute dream for any 90’s grunge fan. The sound, the lights, the music, all worked seamlessly in harmony to create the perfect show for any rock fan, at any age.

Whether you saw Candlebox in the 90’s, last month, or have never seen them before, this is definitely not a tour to miss. The band will be traveling with Bush and Jerry Cantrell through the middle of September and it's definitely a legendary show to check out!
