GALLERY: Better Lovers

JULY 23, 2023 | TORONTO, ON | BY FABIANA MOREIRA

With endings come new beginnings, and Better Lovers is no exception to this rule. Formed by various members from Every Time I Die, Greg Puciato from The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Will Putney from Fit For An Autopsy, the supergroup debuted themselves in this new musical iteration at one of their first performances, supporting Underoath and The Ghost Inside on a solid summer tour.

Considering the buzz stemming from their debut EP, “God Made Me an Animal”, the crowd unleashed themselves in a fury of energy and excitement, which you don’t often witness for the very first opener of a concert. The band performed through all tracks from their latest release, and also ripped through a cover of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage”, embracing their heavy metalcore sound and making this sound all their own. Frontman Greg Puciato maintained full engagement with the fans throughout the entire set, including hopping right into the crowd to surf through during their last song, “30 Under 13”.

The group surely has already built a reputation for themselves and it will be very exciting to see how this all unfolds as they record more together, and very likely the next time they visit they’ll be headlining their own shows. You can catch Better Lovers supporting for the rest of the co-headlining tour with Underoath and The Ghost Inside, and stay tuned for future gigs to be scheduled in the near future.
