CAT’S CRADLE | CARRBORO, NC | APRIL 16TH, 2024 | BY EFFIE HORVATH

On April 16th, Toronto band Good Kid took the Cat’s Cradle stage in Carrboro, NC as part of their “This Can’t Be The End Tour.” The night took off in unpredictability when guitarist Jacob Tsafatinos received his setlist as a paper fortune teller, setting the tone for the evening's tone of spontaneous twists. The fortune teller became a recurring motif, guiding impromptu song selections and introducing the “Wheel of Chaos.” The wheel was spun by a fan to reveal that the lead vocalist, Nick Frosst must sing a sea shanty for the crowd.

But the chaos didn’t stop there because later a pair of fans joined the band onstage for a heartfelt promposal. As the night went on, the crowd's energy never dropped and as the band concluded their performance and exited the stage, an enthusiastic chant erupted from the crowd: “ONE MORE SONG PLEASE!” Responding to their fans' pleas, Good Kid returned for an encore, treating the crowd to their rendition of Laufey’s “From The Start” and their own hit, “Mimi’s Delivery Service.” As the night concluded, it was evident why they had opened the show asking the crowd, “Carrboro, are you ready to drive into chaos?”
