The euphonious, balmy, and trop-pop band Summer Salt containing members Eugene Chung (Vocals, Drums) , Matthew Terry (Vocals, Guitar), Anthony Barnett (Vocals, Guitar), and Winston Triolo (Vocals, Bass) flew high in Asheville, North Carolina at The Grey Eagle.
Having put together a stacked summer tour with Addison Grace and The Rare Occasions, Summer Salt is set to bring down multiple houses with such incredibly talented friends opening up their night and a new album making waves. ‘Campanita’ is the newest record by the band and it is warming up the summer just right.
Going into this show sort of blind and not having listened to the majority of Summer Salt’s discography, I was quickly impressed and turned fan with much ease. First songs breaking through the sound barriers that night were ‘Tortilla Soup’ and ‘Supermoon’ off of the new record, the melodic chemistry between the band was outstanding and can be felt through everybody in the venue. Soaring back to their earlier records, the band brought out fan favorites including ‘Driving to Hawaii’ (the crowd almost screamed their heads off at this one), ‘Candy Wrappers’, ‘Full Catastrophe’, and ‘Revvin’ my CJ7’.
Summer Salt should be on your radar this year, they’ve set the tone for my summer and I will be driving around the state with my car speakers blaring ‘Campanita’ with a carefree spirit and a new love for trop-pop hits. Bending music to new genres and discovering how to make an optimistic melancholy type sound, Summer Salt will be surfing around everyone’s hearts and playlists in no time.
