Opening for Arlie on his Arlie’s Angels tour, The Sewing Club is the definition of “underrated.” With only a handful of songs in their Spotify discography, it’s clear that this band is one that will spark waves in the near future as they progress on their journey.

The band consists of Hannah McElroy (vocals), Zach McCoy (drums), Will Harris (bassist), Justin McKinney (guitar), and Stephen Meaux (guitar). They began out of Nashville, Tennessee and to this day, they stick to their indie roots, recording at Polychrome Ranch or in Stephen and Will’s bedroom or garage. They’re a small band, but they’re bubbling with potential – 2023 will do them great.

Their setlist consisted of 10 songs, four of which were unreleased. Most notable was Cool Girl, with its sad undertones and punkish vibe it’s clearly a hidden gem. It’s a song about trying your best to fake your image, all to impress someone you’re infatuated with – and it’s relatable. Hearing Cool Girl live was brilliant, and it brought shivers down my core.

Not only was their set one to remember, but they were friendly, too. Post-show, as they manned their merch table (shoutout to Zach!), we were able to talk to them, conversing about their set. Some concertgoers were even able to play billiards with Justin between sets!

If you’re looking for a bucket-list show, check out The Sewing Club! Not only will you be blessed with a brilliant show, but you’ll be able to get that meet-and-greet experience that makes a show truly memorable.
