AUSTIN, TX | SCOOT INN | APRIL 11, 2025 | BY RACHEL JOY THOMAS

Named after an apartment complex in the University of Texas, indie-rock band West 22nd has taken up space in local Austinites' hearts. Performing with special guest the 4411, they captivated a packed crowd of onlookers on April 11 as a final hurrah before a long tour from May to June.

West 22nd’s inaugural debut at Scoot Inn follows the same journey that took them to Austin City Limits’ Tito’s Stage last fall — underdogs in the music industry who hit a break during college, finished out their degrees, and set off for a path of freedom on tour. Before graduating in May and hitting the road, they stopped off at one of Austin's most famous venues — one where fellow indie darling Dayglow performed for the first time years prior. The band’s unscrupulous fanbase eagerly awaited their presence, and upon walking across the stage, they received ample cheers.

Logan Madsen sang vividly through new hits on their debut album, Nowhere To Be. Jangly guitar chords burst through the venue from Gabe Acevedo, who supported Jeremy Ancheta’s leading flourishes. The band forayed into its previous popular tracks while still maintaining cool dedication toward its brand-new record.

As a performance truly segmenting their college lives from their professional careers, they packed an extraordinary punch, leaving Scoot Inn’s concertgoers excited and hungry for more live music opportunities from the band that’s grown new wings.
