The Used started their three-night residency in Boston with a setlist we all know all too
well. Marking their 25th anniversary, The Used performed their self-titled debut album which
started it all. Playing to a packed crowd, Night One at the House of Blues was a reminder: this
band may have over two decades behind them, but they still got the ability to call out and calm
our inner-angstful selves.
From the second the lights dropped, a projected RCA TV appeared with a countdown, the
crowd was ready. It felt like a gathering of scene veterans, newer fans, and everything in
between—all bound by the same ink-stained lyrics that got them through heartbreak, high
school, and everything since. When the lead vocalist, Bert McCracken grabbed the mic it was
clear this wasn’t going to be a slow burn. It was all in, right from the jump. The crowd? They
screamed every line right back like it was gospel
Fans packed shoulder to shoulder, some in vintage The Used tees from past tours, while
others showing their love with punk make-up and attire. Throughout the night, there were pits
swirling, lyrics chanted, and an insane amount of crowd surfing. You could feel the joy in the
room—raw, sweaty, and real. Whether crowd surfing, crying, or simply swaying with their eyes
closed, everyone was loving every second.
Night One reminded us why we fell in love with their music in the first place. As fans
poured out onto Lansdowne Street, with the biggest nostalgic grins, it felt like longtime fans got
to relive those nights of locked bedroom hair flipping guitar solos in the mirror, and burnt CDs of
their teenage years memories. And with Night Two incoming, Boston is about to relive In Love
and Death. If Night One was any indication, the next two shows will be just as unforgettable.
