CHARLOTTE, NC | APRIL 28, 2023 | BY ISAIAH PATE

‘WOAH’, a nostalgic indie-pop band hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina – consisting of the most dream like and dashing members Jackson Martin (Guitar), Zac Tice (Bass), Mikey Gomez (Vocals, Guitar), & Ruben Gomez (Vocals, Drums), take on one of their home base venues at The Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, NC. Opening up for another esteemed band, ‘The Criticals’.

After connecting with the band at an earlier show this year, we’ve formed a budding relationship – we exchanged greetings and took some pre-show portraits backstage and caught up with each other about our ever changing lives before the night started.

The clock struck nine and nostalgia seeped into the venue, taking the stage and performing songs from their growing catalog; WOAH’s ep’s ‘Better Left Unsaid’ & ‘sitting in an open room’ took the crowd on multiple journeys of coming of age-like scenarios. Emotions like love, strife, heartbreak, loss, confusion, and wanderlust were felt through and through. To listen to these records on your own is one thing, but to hear these songs live and performed by the band themselves – well, it’s exactly like being in a movie.
