LOS ANGELES, CA| OCTOBER 12, 2023 | BY TESSA BANNISTER
Renowned for their distorted vocals and intense rhythm and bass lines, Tumor played a concert that showcased their signature glam-rock posture. Vibrant thrills and swaying crowds were the consequence of the band's studio fiddling and carefully chosen notes, which were exhibited in their live performances. Some of the band's best-loved songs, including "God is a Circle" and "Meteora Blues," described the fallout from love as chaotic as a failed relationship. "Kerosene!" from their 2020 album Heaven to a Tortured Mind was the night's high point. Chants and wild applause greeted the band's encore performance, which featured a Prince-like guitar solo by Chris Greatti. Diana Gordon's seductive vocals, a collaborator with Beyoncé, could have elevated the performance. The current rock duet "Kerosene!" effectively conveys the unhealthy preoccupation with loving and being loved.
