Stephen Sanchez brought that 1950s vibe to Boston in a performance to remember. With a setlist full of love songs and heartache, it brought tears to the audience.

His setlist began with “Hey Girl,” “Hold Her While You Can,” and “Kayla.” An excellent choice as it seemed to amplify the excitement and anticipation raging in the crowd. Other favorites were “See The Light,” “Evangeline,” and his hit song “Until I Found You.” He performed four unreleased tracks: “Unchained Melody,” “Stay,” “Only Girl,” and encore “Amy and Mary.”

He’s a very easy-going performer, being able to laugh off any mistakes. Most notably, when his voice cracked mid-song, he joked that “We’re all professional musicians up here. They paid us to be here I swear.” He even told the audience that he’s been making himself laugh all tour and that the experience was great for him.

In an effort to show his gratitude to the audience, Stephen Sanchez dedicated a part of his show to an acoustic set, truly going back to his roots – “I’m really glad you know the lyrics to all these songs, to think it all started in a bedroom by myself.” One of our favorites was “Stay,” which is all about wanting to talk to someone but regretting not saying anything; The feeling of having cowardice take over, yet later regretting not saying anything. Sanchez said that he was unsure if his unreleased acoustic songs “Stay” and “Unchained Melody” would ever come out, but he still wanted to share them with the audience. For everyone’s sake, we hope “Stay” gets released someday – that song is a beauty and you definitely need to hear it.

His winter tour was one to remember! With his tour just beginning, we recommend that you definitely attend one of his shows! Or, catch him on his fall tour, which begins in November. All in all, Stephen Sanchez is quite the performer: lyrically brilliant and angelic.
